Ener­gy pro­duc­tion options for appli­ca­tions such as con­sumer devices, elec­tric cars, and the home con­tin­ue to grow and mature, but trans­mis­sion is still inef­fi­cient. Visions abound (Elon Musk envi­sions a bat­tery on every house to store local­ly pro­duced ener­gy) but the Big Bat­tery Break­through hasn’t yet come. In this ses­sion we’ll dis­cuss the cur­rent state of bat­tery tech­nol­o­gy and research, and the impli­ca­tions for inno­va­tion and growth in how we pro­duce and store ener­gy in the near- and longer-term.
