The com­pa­ny was found­ed in 1991 and has over 75 US and inter­na­tion­al patents issued or pend­ing cov­er­ing its tech­nolo­gies, includ­ing light­weight non-inva­sive PV roof sys­tems and sin­gle-axis ground-based track­ing arrays.

Pow­erLight was acquired by Sun­Pow­er on Jan­u­ary 10th, 2007.
